American Woman
As an artist, I primarily consider myself a realist, however, I often add different styles of art to the background of my concepts. This piece is a rare full pop art offering. With my queue packed with very detailed and technically difficult concepts, I was contemplating doing a pop piece that was less tedious - these types of pieces are often a much-needed mental break from my regular work. They allow me a lot of creative freedom without the minutia of painting realism. While I was mulling over a few different ideas, a good friend and like-minded individual planted the seed of the Statue of Liberty giving the rock ‘n' roll salute - with the July 4 th weekend approaching, his timing was perfect. Since my friend hails from Winnipeg, it seemed serendipitous to give a nod to the city by titling it after the hit song from its very own The Guess Who.
