Rich Clarkson, a professional photographer for over thirty years, is one of the most influential and well-known sports photographers to date. He has photographed seven summer and one winter Olympics, in addition to organizing all picture coverage for Time at Munich in 1972 and Montreal in 1976, and for Sports Illustrated at Moscow in 1980.

Throughout his professional career, Rich Clarkson has served as Director of Photography and Senior Assistant Editor at The National Geographic Society, Assistant Managing Editor/Graphics at The Denver Post, and Director of Photography at The Topeka Capital-Journal. Additionally, he has regularly worked over the years as a contract magazine photographer for Sports Illustrated, Time, and Life. He founded Rich Clarkson and Associates in Denver in 1987.
